Always Remembered

On October 24, 2004, a plane carrying Ricky Hendrick, his uncle John, cousins Kimberly and Jennifer, and six other close friends tragically crashed en route to the NASCAR race in Martinsville, VA. The loss shook the entire NASCAR community and beyond. Ricky’s passing left a profound impact on everyone who knew him, and his memory continues to inspire those who admired his spirit, leadership, and love of life.

Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Edwards

Benjamin Franklin “Frank” Edwards (December 7, 1936 — October 26, 2025) was a beloved member of the Hendrick Motorsports family and one of its original team members. A skilled car builder and owner of the gold-and-black No. 98 machines, he spent nearly three decades at Hendrick Motorsports. Frank was also instrumental in Ricky Hendrick’s early career, serving as his crew chief in late models and helping guide Ricky’s path as a driver.
