On October 24, 2004, a plane carrying Ricky Hendrick, his uncle John, cousins Kimberly and Jennifer, and six other close friends tragically crashed en route to the NASCAR race in Martinsville, VA. The loss shook the entire NASCAR community and beyond. Ricky’s passing left a profound impact on everyone who knew him, and his memory continues to inspire those who admired his spirit, leadership, and love of life.

Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Edwards

A skilled car builder and owner of the gold-and-black No. 98 machines, he spent nearly three decades at Hendrick Motorsports. Frank was also instrumental in Ricky Hendrick’s early career, serving as his crew chief in late models and helping guide Ricky’s path as a driver.

Helen Myrick was an avid fan of NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsports. Mrs. Myrick was also a gifted artist who excelled in drawing, music, writing original poetry, and nurturing her magnificent flowering plants. She was Ricky's grandmother.
William "Bill" Myrick

William “Bill” Myrick was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Myrick. In his 39 years in motorsports, William contributed to 18 championships and 362 wins in NASCAR's three national touring series, while working alongside 14 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductees and 17 of NASCAR's 75 Greatest Drivers. Ricky Hendrick was his nephew.
