On October 24, 2004 a plane carrying 10 people including it's crew crashed  All ten people on board were killed

This included Ricky, John Hendrick, president of Hendrick Motorsports, his twin daughters Jennifer & Kimberly, General Manager Jeff Turner, and chief engine builder Randy Dorton. The pilots were Richard Tracy & Elizabeth Morrison. Also on board were Joe Jackson, an executive at DuPont and Scott Lathram.
